Ramo in O.C. 695 says that men should not give single women mishloach manot because it would create a safek kiddushin. Perhaps SYAS is more progressive (or agressive) than we thought in solving the shidduch crisis?
Based on that same Ramo, some people believe you should be very careful not to give gifts to your
“bashert” because of the safek….along those same line perhaps one should never take the girl out to dinner lest it become a safek kedushin…..hmmm
Why not just go all the way with the gavra rabba theory – that the benifit she gets from just being on a date with you could count towards a kiddushin.
Considering how all dating is o’sek b’oto inyan, we may be onto something here…
Safek kiddushin, shmafek kiddushin! I’m a lot more concerned about the (not so) subtle implication that you should be plying your shadchan with extras so they’ll “keep you in their minds.” Oh, but if I don’t buy my shadchan a nice fruit basket they’re going to forget about me?
PS: How does a safek kiddushin count re SYAS statistics (or the infamous olam habba “3-and-in” deal?)? Do you get 3/5 of a marriage added to your total?
PPS: I’ve heard the whole olam habba for 3 shidduchim deal for as long as I can remember, but I’ve never seen any source. Can anyone help?
maybe they just want your money. PAY US TO SEND BASKETS OF FOOD TO OURSELVES!
This makes me think that someitmes I am part of a very crazy religion.
I mean seriously, can I get married over the internet via chat?
If everyone knows in a given community it is just shaloch manot, why would anyone assume that it is kiddushin?
