Commenting Policies
Comments are essential to every blog, even a personal blog such as YUTOPIA. I'm very blessed to have attracted a following of Loyal Readers whose insightful and sometimes humorous comments have contributed positively to the general discussions.
Thankfully, I haven't had many problems with comments - I think to date we've had no more than two flamewars in five years - but it couldn't hurt to lay out some ground rules:
- Civility is non-negotiable. This means no ad hominem attack and no personal insults. Feel free to argue passionately - especially if you disagree with me - but do so responsibly. Remember, "The quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded than the shouts of a ruler of fools" (Kohelet 9:17)
- Keep comments on-topic to the post in some way. Some discussions may go in other directions, but if they go too far, I may interject.
- You are completely and solely responsible for what you write. Unless specifically requested by the author, I will not edit any post for typos or other mistakes. Finally and most importantly:
- I reserve the right to delete any post at my discretion. My blog, my rules.1
Practically speaking there shouldn't be any difference, but it's nice to have things out in the open.
1. To date, the only comments I have deleted were either accidental duplicates or retracted by the author.
